چکیده

We propose a Bayesian model for mixed ordinal and continuous multivariate data to evaluate a latent spatial Gaussian process. Our proposed model can be used in many contexts where mixed continuous and discrete multivariate responses are observed in an effort to quantify an unobservable continuous measurement. In our example, the latent, or unobservable measurement is wetland condition. While predicted values of the latent wetland condition variable produced by the model at each location do not hold any intrinsic value, the relative magnitudes of the wetland condition values are of interest. In addition, by including point-referenced covariates in the model, we are able to make predictions at new locations for both the latent random variable and the multivariate response. Lastly, the model produces ranks of the multivariate responses in relation to the unobserved latent random field. This is an important result as it allows us to determine which response variables are most closely correlated with the latent variable. Our approach offers an alternative to traditional indices based on best professional judgment that are frequently used in ecology. We apply our model to assess wetland condition in the North Platte and Rio Grande River Basins in Colorado. The model facilitates a comparison of wetland condition at multiple locations and ranks the importance of in-field measurements.

The Analysis of Bayesian Probit Regression of Binary and Polychotomous Response Data

The goal of this study is to introduce a statistical method regarding the analysis of specific latent data for regression analysis of the discrete data and to build a relation between a probit regression model (related to the discrete response) and normal linear regression model (related to the latent data of continuous response). This method provides precise inferences on binary and multinomia...

A MODEL FOR MIXED CONTINUOUS AND DISCRETE RESPONSES WITH POSSIBILITY OF MISSING RESPONSES

A model for missing data in mixed binary and continuous responses, which can be used on cross-sectional data, is presented. In this model response indicator for the binary response can be dependent on the continuous response. A closed form for the likelihood is found. For data with a complicated pattern of missing responses some new residuals are also proposed. The model of multiplicative heter...

Parameter Estimation in Spatial Generalized Linear Mixed Models with Skew Gaussian Random Effects using Laplace Approximation

Spatial generalized linear mixed models are used commonly for modelling non-Gaussian discrete spatial responses. We present an algorithm for parameter estimation of the models using Laplace approximation of likelihood function. In these models, the spatial correlation structure of data is carried out by random effects or latent variables. In most spatial analysis, it is assumed that rando...

Beta - Binomial and Ordinal Joint Model with Random Effects for Analyzing Mixed Longitudinal Responses

The analysis of discrete mixed responses is an important statistical issue in various sciences. Ordinal and overdispersed binomial variables are discrete. Overdispersed binomial data are a sum of correlated Bernoulli experiments with equal success probabilities. In this paper, a joint model with random effects is proposed for analyzing mixed overdispersed binomial and ordinal longitudinal respo...

Some applications of generalized linear latent and mixed models in epidemiology: Repeated measures, measurement error and multilevel modeling

We describe generalized linear latent and mixed models (GLLAMMs) and illustrate their potential in epidemiology. GLLAMMs include many types of multilevel random effect, factor and structural equation models. A wide range of response types are accommodated including continuous, dichotomous, ordinal and nominal responses as well as counts and survival times. Multivariate responses can furthermore...
